Good day world-changers!

I’ve got “Two-Plus One” awesome outreach deals to share with you today.  These are great ways for you, your family, your eGroup or eTeam to serve right here in Charlotte within the next two weeks.  And it all counts towards our goal of 100,000 hours served for the Orange Initiative!

Festival in the Park starts Friday and runs through Sunday.  In its 47th year, it’s a family-friendly arts and music festival in Freedom Park.  This year they’re expecting 180 arts and crafts exhibits, and close to 1,000 performing artists on seven stages!

We’ve partnered with Hands on Charlotte to support this event.  Opportunities Friday and Saturday include greeting, first aid, and office help on site, and working directly in supporting and encouraging the artists.  You can wear your “Love Week” t-shirt and represent at an event that sees close to 100,000 visitors – and have a great time with your family, too!

Then Sunday, we will link up with Samaritan’s Feet for “Shoes of Hope.”  We’ll be giving away close to 500 pairs of shoes to children and adults in one of Charlotte’s most fragile neighborhoods.  This opportunity is an effort to bless hundreds of our neighbors living in poverty in our own community, while raising awareness about the incredible needs in one of the poorest nations in Africa.  The President of Burundi will be joining us in this historic event.

Many of these volunteer opportunities are full, but there’s still time to be involved in the middle of the day as foot washers, shoe runners, and at the end of the day to help tear down.  If you’ve been waiting to decide if you or your eGroup can join us for this event, the time to jump in is now.

Next Saturday, October 1 – Come walk with us!  It’s the 2011 Buddy Walk, presented by the Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte.  We need parkers, greeters, and walkers to join us at Freedom Park to support and celebrate with families living with Down Syndrome.  Elevation Outreach has paid your walking fee, so there’s no excuse!

Walk for free, or give a donation to DSAC.
