This has been the best day. We served together as a family from first thing this morning, until the sun began to set this evening. I’m so grateful for my Pastor’s heart – that our church would be a blessing in a hurting world. And we’ll all lay our heads down tonight, knowing we made new friends, and linked arms to give children a more confident start to the new school year.
Elevation Church is committed to giving 1,000 book bags to support homeless children served through “A Child’s Place.” You can still bring yours to church this weekend, and help a child start school with one less thing to worry about.
As of June 2011, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools identified 4,711 homeless children in our school system. Thousands more live in poverty. So I’m grateful that when Pastor Charlie Rivens of South Tryon Community Church called our offices to see if we could help with their book bag giveaway – we didn’t hesitate. His church is a beacon of light in the middle of one of the poorest, most crime-ridden neighborhoods in Charlotte.
Thank you, Pastor Rivens for giving us the opportunity to worship, pray, and serve together. We won’t soon forget your kindness, your generosity, or your smiles. And you’re right, those baked beans were the best we’ve ever had.
