Tomorrow afternoon, Charlotte revives a New Year’s Eve tradition.

If you haven’t heard, Center City will come alive with art, music, dance, and song beginning at 3pm.

First Night is hugely popular in many U.S. cities.  Boston’s is the most well-known.  Here it will be an alcohol-free, family-friendly celebration with events indoors and out.  That’s important since it’s expected to be cold and windy tomorrow night with temperatures dipping to the 30’s before midnight.

Discovery Place and Imaginon will highlight some of the best entertainment for the kids.  There’s a people’s parade at 7pm from Discovery Place down Tryon to the main stage at 3rd street.  An early countdown for the little guys is set for 7:40pm.

A couple of “don’t miss” acts later in the evening include artist David Garibaldi at 9:30pm, and Country Gospel singer Caroline Keller was JUST CONFIRMED for the evening’s events.

You can download the program guide here, and the website has lots of great information.  Buttons for all the action are $10 each.  Kids under 12 are free with a paying adult.

Happy New Year!!!
